July reading update
what I read this month
Diary:
It's been a while really although I talk about books almost on every post. But having a monthly reading wrap up is a bonker topic for a blog. I always find any wrap up interesting. So far I have read 3 books in the entirety month of July.
Eau d'Amour by Syaznixon
Unfortunately, not my favourite. The story is alright but the writing style feels repetitive. Also I feel like it can be reduced to 200-300 pages instead of dragging the storyline to 400 pages.
The Snows of Kilimanjaro and Other Stories by Ernest Hemingway
I used to say I want to experience Hemingway, and boy, I like it. I like how subtle and dense some of the stories are. It can be pretty challenging without knowing the context of the story but I don't mind searching something up after reading it. I have a few short stories on the shelf, can't wait to read those someday. My favourite stories from the book:
Drasin Kingdom by Bella Chu
The last fantasy book I read was Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones, which was years ago. I'm pretty happy to get into this genre again. The story is fun, quite a fast read after Hemingway. I genuinely thought I am a slow reader, but it is the kind of book I read that require more time to understand. I can read pretty fast actually. Good to know. This book use dialogues to explain most of the lore. The revelation can be out of nowhere. I don't know if it's normal within the genre, but I wish for more scenic worldbuilding.
Currently reading Crush by Richard Siken. There are a few poems I really love. For fiction, will start reading On The Road by Jack Kerouac sometime in the future.

Musings:
I went to Singapore for a day trip last weekend. I know I have been biased with Kuala Lumpur for personal reason. I think Singapore is a bigger, more efficient KL throughout the day. It was fun, really. My favourite place was Kampung Gelam because of the food and historical buildings. I planned to come back again one day and explore the entirety of it.
Movie:
I watched The Odyssey on IMAX the way Nolan intended. It was terrific. Might watch Dune on IMAX too. Also I have maxed up member tier on my cinema apps and receive two free tickets. Still thinking what movie worth to see using that.
