living fast and slow, vignettes

August & Sept backlogs

Diary:

Hi, hello and good day,

It's October now but my mind is still stuck in September, which in that month, I thought about August pretty often.

August revisit :

I just realised a few countries in SEA shared the same independent month because of the Japanese invasion. That's interesting. Oh what a way to start a post. Whoever read this might get a whiplash, my bad. Early this month, I went to a local tourist spot, a chocolate shop with my husband's side of the family. It was fun because everyone was there. Throughout the month, I'm working on the second draft of my manuscript. Writing was hard but I couldn't imagine not doing that. Because of that, everything I read automatically became a learning session. I was so hypervigilant of sentence structures, prose and overall stories. Not that I become overly critical, but it was like my third eye was awakened. I grew appreciative of every single good prose that I came across. I used to be a monogamist reader but actually reading multiple books grew on me. I get the hype. It helped me to read more.

September revisit :

Living in SEAsian region means you will encounter the (anticipated) yearly haze season. It was such a normal occurrence that I no longer feel they're gonna do something about it. Such a shame that a lot of regular people have to face this problem and carry on with their daily task. September is my birthday month. This year I turn 28, which is quite bizarre considering all mental gymnastics and breaking back to get where I am right now. At this age, I accept that I complain and rant a lot but I still get the job done. It's like I love being optimistic but I gotta whine too for mental health reasons.

Then I learnt that every single thing has commitment attached to it. Mostly on physical items. For example, if you have a massive house, your weekly chores will be doubled and if you decide to not hire a helper, you're gonna vacuum the whole house and all that jazz that consumes your weekly rest/relaxation time. The older I get, the more I feel I won't be living in a big house when I'm older. I'm not gonna count the steps from kitchen to living room. I used to dislike open concept houses but now it's a convenient layout for older people.

fun fact: decided to name this post from thinking fast and slow book title. Haven't read that but my university professor once made a quiz from that book. I just suddenly thought about him, and the good old student days.

Updates

Musings:

My cats don't know the concept of time but they lay in front of the sliding door around 5pm every day. But I know the concept of time, and intentionally let it slip past me every day. The doomscrolling is pretty bad these days but I'm about to finish the third draft of my manuscript. I should have talked about it here but I just forgot to do so. I'm working on something lately, hence the sudden disappearance.

Reading Log:

I deleted Fable apps and started using Goodreads again. Main reason because I didn't like the social media stuff on Fable. I get it why they have that but it wasn't for me anymore.

Shows:

On September, I rewatched all seasons of Attack On Titan with my husband. Such a banger show. I love Season 3 so much. I finally watch The Bear. Have nothing but praises all along. Also I have decided to cancel my Netflix account. The price hike was too much for me since we have a few cheaper options as well.

Music:

I listen to Tinashe and AOT Soundtracks pretty much this month. Nicole Kidman song makes me feel like I'm losing weight.
