love, analog
Hi,
Friction is what makes analog media loveable. Back in the day, I have to change TV channel to AV, take out barbie movie CD from my high school musical CD holder, insert the CD into CD player, push play button and wait. Pretty physical for 8 year old. And then I have to wait, just in case the CD doesn't load (because it was bootleg) and I have to take out the CD again and wipe the surface. Even writing this sounds tedious.
But now, slow wifi is enough to make me annoyed. I don't enjoy taking time. My tolerance and patience decreased gradually. I have been wondering myself at what moment it changed? Was it the convenience that made me didn't appreciate the lengthy method to enjoy said media? I didn't like what I have become. I guess I need to change a few things. This blog is one of the way, out of many other analog medium that I start to love. I can just throw prompt on chatgpt to write 10 personal diary but I feel like a fraudster, like I can't even think to write on my own. I don't have strong opinion over AI-assisted writer, I just avoid them like a plague.
I have a radio with CD player. I bought a few favourite albums. The lengthy, tedious method start to grow in me. Maybe 2026 will be different for me and many of us.
