[5] rom-com night
Anyone But You
This is just a word vomit. I might have slipped some spoilers, so yeah, read at your own risk.
Annoyance to lovers, cringe and cheesy—rom-com is back. Sydney made this movie to fund Immaculate; I love her for that. The story is decent enough for me to enjoy. I watched it for pure enjoyment, not to critique or complain. We need rom-coms again to heal the cinema haha.Â
The plot is Glen and Sydney have to act civil for her sister's wedding, despite them having bad blood after a romantic night 2 years ago. The story happened in Australia, and sometimes it felt like a tourism commercial lol. I love the opening plot; the bathroom situation is kinda cute. My favourite rom-coms are still How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Istanbul Aku Datang (a tie). I love them equally. So, compared to these movies, Anyone But You is lacking in that area.
The plot continues with verbal fights mostly, before other things happened—both of their exes were there as well. Some conflicts and funny, awkward scenes—also many beautiful shots of Australia. I can tell they have fun while filming this. Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield is the main OST. Such a good song. Been on replay in Spotify.
The ending scene is cute and on point for Glen's character. Seeing the cast singing the ost is really fun. We should bring back some goofy behind-the-scenes moments during the end credits.
we need more rom-com,
