thalassophobia
Hi, I have thalassophobia. Deep water scares me.
It started when I was 10 (I think). My family used to bring me to the beach and I'm pretty fond of it as well. One day, I found a huge jellyfish stranded on the beach, dried. It was huge, like a desk size or something. But still, huge for a kid to see. I was having an epiphany since that encounter because at that time, there was no warning about jellyfish migration. I'm being extra careful when I swim in the ocean. God knows what swimming under my feet.
If this huge thing can land on the beach, what's even bigger in the sea? Since that day, I no longer swim in the ocean. I still go to the beach but never take a dive or something. The image of prehistoric fish, especially the huge one like megalodon or something makes my skin crawl.
